About TATA Imagination Challenge

The Tata Imagination Challenge 2021 is India’s largest competition, available to all Indian college students (Student Track) as well as all Tata group employees worldwide (In-House Track). It can be a concept from any field, including technology, sustainability, sciences, economics, social change, design, arts, global, entrepreneurship, healthcare, and more.

They may or may not be part of the present Tata corporate ecosystem, but all ideas that are cognizant of Tata’s principles are welcome.

Eligibility Criteria

The sole requirement for participation is that you have a strong desire to explore your ideas. The Tata Imagination Challenge 2021 is for you if you believe your imagination can contribute value and make a difference in the world, or if you have a solution to a difficult problem and want to meet your best self.

Student Track- 

You are eligible for this Track if-

• Are a college student (undergraduate or postgraduate) in any stream from anywhere in the United States.
• Are you currently enrolled as a full-time student?
• Have finished 10+2 or an equivalent education
• Are enrolled in any year of college after completing 10+2 or an equivalent education (1st /2nd /3rd /4th /5th year of college)
• As of September 1, 2021, have enrolled in a university/college in India for regular or full-time Undergraduate (UG) or Postgraduate (PG) courses.
• Are enrolled in AICTE or UGC-approved courses, or 1-year management programmes offered by business institutions.
• Classes in your academic programme have started.

If you meet the following criteria, you are ineligible for this track:

• You’ve been accepted, but your classes have yet to begin.
• You’ve decided to enrol in a correspondence or distance learning course.
• You’ve already graduated from college or finished your course.
• You are not enrolled in a full-time programme.
• Your current company has granted you a sabbatical.

House Track

You will be eligible for this track if–

You are a full-time employee of a Tata company or a Tata joint venture company anywhere in the world (including those who are on sabbatical).

If you meet the following criteria, you are ineligible for this track:

• You are a working professional who is not employed by a Tata group company or a Tata joint venture company on a permanent basis.
• You have been assigned to the Tata joint venture company as a JV partner.

Rounds to Conquer

Round 1

Evaluation of the Tata brand

Do you consider yourself to be well-versed in the Tata brands? This quiz will put your knowledge of several Tata brands to the test using anecdotes and facts. Each registered participant will have 30 minutes to attempt 25 questions.

Assessment that is gamified

This round includes gaming aspects, with enrolled individuals taking part in a dynamic and exciting 30-minute gamified examination.

Round 2

Submissions for Video Pitch

Participants will select a calling idea and propose a solution in the form of a video pitch submission. Submit an executive overview (video of up to 2 minutes) and a full presentation of your big idea (video of up to 5 minutes). The videos must be in.MP4 format and no more than 15 MB in size. The phase of the Idea Buddy

You are not alone on this path! After Round 2, each candidate will be paired with a young Tata leader as a buddy. This Idea buddy will assist in the development and refinement of the idea that will be submitted in the next stage.

Round 3

Interaction between the leaders

This is the round where you and your concept take the spotlight. Finalists present their big idea to a panel of senior Tata executives, including what problem they are tackling and how they plan to solve it. The panelists will also question the finalists about their life and career goals, as well as their journey.

Judging Criteria

The following criteria will be used to assess the ideas:

• Innovation
• Practicality/Feasibility
• The ability to think creatively
• The solution’s robustness
• The method used to develop the concept
• Mindset of an entrepreneur
• Deep understanding of the concept and all of the features that will be presented during the final pitch

Prizes & Rewards

• Each winner will receive a cash award of Rs. 2 lakh.
• Tata leaders offer mentoring sessions.
• Subject-matter-expert-led accelerator sessions
• Tata Tomorrow University’s learning platform is accessible (www.tmtctata.com)
• Nomination for prestigious educational programmes

Other Categories Prizes

• Popular Choice Awards: Popular Choice will recognise the top three concepts. All proposals will be up for vote in this round. The top three most popular concepts will be chosen based on public vote. These will be completely separate from the jury’s verdicts.
• Top participants in each discipline get a participation certificate.
• “Settle for a Better Idea”: Aside from those who advance to Round 3, innovative ideas will be discovered, acknowledged, and Tata CliQ vouchers will be awarded.
• Taj vouchers for Mini-Challenge Winners Certificate of Appreciation for Round 3 Participants
