About This Internship

For the year 2021, the United Nations in New Delhi is accepting applications for Internships in Economic Affairs. The UNESCAP-SSWA Office offers internships for a minimum of two months, with the possibility of a six-month extension if the division so requires. Interns work five days a week (35 hours) under the direction of a member of staff in the department or office to which they are assigned.

United Nations is conducting an Off-campus recruitment drive across India for the position/roles of Economic Affairs (Intern). These are the entry-level roles to kickstart your career at peak level.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet one of the following conditions to be considered for an internship with the United Nations Internship Program:

  • be enrolled in a graduate programme (second university degree or higher); or
  • be in the final year of a first-year university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent); or
  • having earned a university diploma (as described above) and, if chosen, must begin the internship within one year following graduation.

Roles & Responsibilities

The intern’s daily responsibilities will vary depending on his or her background, the intern’s designated office, and the internship period. Among the responsibilities may be, but are not limited to:
Analytical and normative work, policy support and advocacy, technical assistance, and capacity-building initiatives are all part of ESCAP-work APCTT’s programme.

During the internship, you will have the opportunity to learn about the following topics:
Interns at ESCAP-APCTT have the opportunity to improve their knowledge of:

  • Challenges facing national innovation systems in Asia Pacific countries;
  • Regional and multilateral cooperation processes;
  • UN mandates and operations in developing countries and countries with special needs in its efforts to provide policy advice, capacity building, and a platform for governments to achieve SDGs.

The intern is responsible for contributing to the technical cooperation project(s) relevant to ESCAP-work APCTT’s programme for the implementation of the SDGs under direct supervision. The project’s focus will be determined by the intern’s background, skills, and interests.

Communication: Ability to write clearly and concisely, as well as excellent written and oral communication abilities.
Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the capacity to collaborate with colleagues from various national and cultural backgrounds in order to achieve corporate objectives.
•Client Orientation: Considers all persons who receive services as ‘clients,’ and tries to see things from their perspective.
•Planning & Organizing: Allocates adequate time and resources for completing tasks, as well as monitors and modifies plans and activities as needed.
•Accountability: Takes ownership of all responsibilities and honors commitments, and delivers outputs for which one has responsibility within the prescribed time, cost, and quality standards

Duration of this Internship

  • The internship at the Asian and Pacific Centre for Technology Transfer is for a minimum of two months, with the possibility of being extended for up to six months if APCTT need it.
  • Interns work five days a week (35 hours) under the direction of a member of staff in the department or office to which they are assigned.

Stipend

This is an Unpaid Internship and Full-Time.

This is an Online, virtual, and work-from-home/remote internship. And it is conducted online especially because of the pandemic situation/Covid-19 pandemic and Applicants are requested to undertake this Internship remotely and the applicants will get a chance to travel internationally, and access United Nations (UN) premises. Free Work From Home, a Full-time opportunity for everyone to get real-world experience and experience matters a lot. After completion of this Internship, you will get a Letter of Recommendation.
